Introduction to Plastic Materials: Polyethylene (PE)
Leave plastic processing, resin processing, and plastic welding to us!
At Meiko Co., Ltd., we manufacture plastic (resin) processed products, rubber processed products, metal processed products, acrylic aquariums, and more. Polyethylene (PE) is stable against acids and alkalis. Low molecular weight polyethylene swells in hydrocarbon solvents, while high molecular weight polyethylene exhibits excellent chemical resistance. Additionally, it has high insulation properties and tends to accumulate static electricity. Common characteristics of polyethylene include being milky white and translucent, lighter than water, and dripping when burned. Its drawbacks include a low softening point and being chemically inert, making it difficult to print or bond directly. Therefore, welding methods are often used instead of adhesives.
